Woman, 63, dies following fire in Coatbridge

A 63-year-old woman has died after a fire at a property in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the town's Laird Street at 19:45 on Wednesday night.

The blaze was extinguished by firefighters and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said a joint investigation with the fire service was ongoing, but there were "no apparent suspicious circumstances".

Her next of kin have been made aware.
