Speed boat 'steered through' dolphins off Inverness

  • Published

A rigid inflatable speed boat was steered through a pod of dolphins in the Moray Firth, police have said.

Northern Constabulary said the incident happened near the Kessock Bridge, at Inverness, on 25 April.

The Moray Firth provides habitat for bottlenose dolphins, while less common short-beaked dolphins have been spotted on occasions further out to sea.

Police warned that deliberate actions that disturbed the mammals were a criminal offence.
