Thousands of cycling fans are expected to gather in and around Fort William at the weekend for a stage of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.

Almost 20,000 spectators turned up for last year's event.

Fort William is the second round on the World Cup Downhill and 4X Tour. The USA and Canada will also host rounds.

In 2010, more than 300 professional riders from 24 nations took part. British rider Gee Atherton won the flagship men's downhill competition.
