Highland Council emergency debate on Inverness floods

An emergency debate is to be held later on flooding that hit Inverness, Culloden, Balloch and Smithton on Sunday.
The discussion is to be held at a meeting of Highland Council's Inverness City Committee.
Over the weekend, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) issued flood alerts for Inverness, Easter Ross, Caithness and Sutherland.
Firefighters were called to a number of incidents on Sunday.
Torrential rain started on Saturday night and continued the following day.
The A9 at Inverness and stretches of the A96 between the city and Nairn and also sections of the A862 were badly affected by flooding.
Firefighters were called to rescue a driver stuck in their car and to homes flooded by blocked drains and burst rain pipes.
A separate meeting to discuss flooding affecting the Inverness area will be held by Highland Council at Culloden Academy on 18 August.
