Concerns over medical cover for west Ardnamurchan

  • Published

Concerns have been raised about out-of-hours emergency medical cover in one of the remotest parts of the Highlands.

Communities in west Ardnamurchan want assurances that district nursing cover will be maintained when a nurse in the role retires at the start of 2012.

People have also called for improved ambulance cover for the area.

Representatives from the Scottish Ambulance Service and NHS Highland will meet community leaders in Kilchoan later ahead of a public meeting.

The Ardnamurchan peninsula in the west Highlands is about two hours drive from Fort William.
