A deal between Scotland's west coast prawn fishermen and supermarket chain Sainbury's has been welcomed by MSPs.

The Scottish Langoustine Project will see shellfish graded as high quality distributed through about 500 of the company's 800 UK outlets.

Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch MSP Dave Thompson told the Scottish Parliament that the contract would enhance the reputation of Scottish fishermen.

Mr Thompson was involved in talks about setting up the langoustine project.

Mallaig and Northwest Fishermen's Association has also been working with consultant Prof Keivan Zokaei and Skye-based marketing professional Neil Robertson on the scheme.

BBC Alba broke the story on the Sainbury's deal on Tuesday. The west coast prawns will be branded as Scottish langoustine.
