Highland Council and Fujitsu to discuss targets

Talks are to be held later between Highland Council representatives and managers from the local authority's IT contractor Fujitsu.

Councillors have criticised the progress made on some IT projects.

The meeting was called after councillors heard 15% of Fujistu's work at council offices and about 40% in schools had been completed.

Brodie Shepherd, of Fujitsu, told BBC Radio Scotland that the firm had taken "a bashing" over areas of its service.

The Japanese IT giant won a £70m contract last year to replace and maintain technology, including computers and printers, in the local authority's schools and offices.

He said the company had delivered six out of eight major projects under the contract and Fujitsu would continue to work closely with Highland Council to complete the other work.
