Two Scottish police forces are working together on a campaign urging motorists to prepare for the winter.

Northern Constabulary and Grampian Police will run messages on local radio stations advising people how to deal with snow and ice.

The adverts will also warn against drink driving.

Last winter saw prolonged spells of freezing temperatures and heavy snowfalls badly affect areas covered by the two police forces.

Drinks firm Diageo, Moray Firth Radio, Northsound, Tesco and the AA are partners in the new Winter Safe Journey Campaign.

It was officially launched at the Castle Stuart golf course, near Inverness.
