Burger chain among Highland Council's Gaelic clients

A council's Gaelic translation service has been used by fast food chain McDonald's as well as supermarkets, a big name pharmacist and hotel chains, according to a new report.

Highland Council set up the translation unit in 2009.

In a report to councillors, officials said clients had included Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda, Boots and Mercure hotels.

The translation team has also assisted local schools and High Life Highland, which runs leisure centres.

The report will be considered by Highland Council's Gaelic implementation group on Thursday.
