The Scottish SPCA has appealed for information after a cat was shot with an airgun pellet in a village near Inverness.

The three-year-old male, called Flash Harry, was bleeding and in pain when it returned to its owner's home in Cawdor on 28 August.

It was taken to a vets where a pellet was removed from its shoulder.

SSPCA chief inspector Iain Allan said it was fortunate that the cat was not killed.

He said: "This was an extremely cruel act and we would advise other cat owners in the area to be vigilant.

"Cawdor is a small village and we are appealing to the public to come forward if they know who may be responsible for this shooting."
