Work to construct what has been described as mainland Britain's most northerly distillery is expected to begin next month.

Dunnet Bay Distillers Ltd plan to build the micro gin distillery at Dunnet in Caithness.

Husband and wife Martin and Claire Murray, who run the company, hope to have the first samples of the drink ready by next summer.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise has provided £83,990 to the project.

Laura Gunn, from HIE, said: "We are extremely excited to have the most northerly distillery in mainland Scotland opening in Caithness.

"Martin and Claire have put a huge amount of time and effort into ensuring the product they are creating is of an extremely high quality."
