Boy, 13 rescued from quicksand on Scarista Beach in Harris

A 13-year-old boy has been rescued after becoming trapped up to his neck in quicksand in the Western Isles.

Coastguards found the boy having difficulty breathing when they reached him on Scarista Beach in Harris.

He was pulled free and airlifted to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway where he is said to be recovering.
