Belladrum near Beauly 'raised £6.6m for economy'

About 17,000 people attended this year's Belladrum festival

This summer's Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival near Beauly raised £6.6m for the Scottish economy, according to a new report.

Festival goers' spending on travel to get to the event in the Highlands and on food, drink and other items generated the economic boost.

An economic and management consultancy calculated that more than £4m of the figure benefitted the local economy.

About 17,000 people went to the two-day festival in August.

The headline acts included Sir Tom Jones.

Belladrum's organisers commissioned Mackay Consultants to examine Bella's economic impact.

An extra night of entertainment has been added to next August's festival.

It will be headlined by The Proclaimers who last played at the event in 2005.
