Hampshire men set new Land's End-John O'Groats record

Two cyclists from Hampshire have broken an endurance record that was first set almost 50 years ago.

Dominic Irvine and Charlie Mitchell have cycled non-stop on a tandem from Land's End to John O'Groats in 45 hours 11 minutes and two seconds.

They beat the record first set in 1966 by five hours.

Their attempt, which Mr Irvine from Alresford and Mr Mitchell of Ovington finished on Thursday, was officiated by the Road Records Association.

Dubbed Lejog, thousands of people every year cycle and walk from Land's End to John O'Groats.

Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell, along with Jerone Walters and Rebecca Romero, have previously tried to break the tandem record.
