Buzzcocks' John Maher inspire abandoned crofthouse restoration

Former Buzzcocks drummer John Maher's photographic record of abandoned homes on the Western Isles has attracted funding towards restoring one of the properties.

Maher, who lives on the Isle of Harris, has made a photographic record of the former family homes and crofthouses on the Outer Hebrides.

The musician's images, including this one called The Dog The Cat and The Bird, have helped to secure a £50,000 grant from the William Grant Foundation.

The money, which was secured by the Carnegie Trust, will be used to bring an abandoned home back into use. The project could eventually be widened out to other properties on the islands and the rest of the UK.
