The winning design for a new flag for Caithness has been announced by Highland Council.
Four shortlisted designs were put to a public vote last year after the competition attracted entries from all over the world.
A Nordic cross and galley symbolising Caithness' ancient ties to the Vikings are part of the winning design of the flag.
Entries were sent from all over the world to the competition.
