Councillors have approved plans for a second championship golf course, to be dedicated to US golfer Arnold Palmer, at Castle Stuart near Inverness.

The new 18-hole course on the shores of the Moray Firth will be laid out in partnership with the golf legend's Arnold Palmer Group.

Highland Council's south planning applications committee grant the project full planning permission.

Construction of the Palmer Tribute course could begin later this year.

Palmer, 85, visited Castle Stuart and the proposed site of the new course last year.

Castle Stuart hosts this year's Scottish Open from 7 to 10 July.
