Prince Andrew in the North Tower of Inverness Castle
The Earl of Inverness, Prince Andrew, has been told of plans to turn the city's castle into a tourist attraction on a visit to the Highlands.
Work has started on building a viewpoint on a tower of Inverness Castle, most of which is used for holding criminal and civil court cases.
There is a long-term plan to make the rest of the building available to the wider public.
The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service plans to move to a new site.
Prince Andrew has also been given a tour of flood defences along the River Ness.
He also visited Highland Hospice's new inpatient unit.
