Pupils at a Highlands primary school no longer face being relocated to a school 12 miles (19.3km) away next term because of a teacher shortage.

Highland Council said teaching staff had now been found for Strathconon, meaning the school could remain open.

Earlier this week, the local authority revealed its plan to relocate the 17 primary and two nursery pupils to Marybank Primary School.

The measure was to remain in place until new staff were recruited.

In a statement, the council said it was "pleased to confirm" that teaching staff had been identified.

Parents were told of the change in the situation at a meeting with education bosses.
