Man, 85, dies after being hit by motorbike in Highlands

An 85-year-old man has died after being hit by a motorbike in the Highlands.

Angus Ross, from Ardgay, died at the scene of the accident on the A836 near Invershin in Sutherland on Wednesday morning.

The 49-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses to get in touch, external and said its inquiries remained ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Sgt Neil MacDonald said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Angus at this very difficult time. We will continue to support them as our inquiries progress."

In a statement, the family of Mr Ross said: "We are devastated over the loss of Angus, who was much-loved by all the family."
