Car and train in collision at Highlands level crossing

A car has been struck by a train at a level crossing in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the site near Barbaraville in Easter Ross at about 15:19.

British Transport Police said no-one was reported to have been injured, and inquiries into the incident were ongoing.

The collision happened between Invergordon and Tain on the Far North Line. Train services have been disrupted.

Network Rail said: "At this point all we can confirm is that the emergency services are dealing with the incident between Invergordon and Tain.

"The Inverness to Wick/Thurso line is currently closed between those locations.

"We're working closely with the emergency services at the moment."
