Aberdeen City Council's chief executive is in the running for the same role in Edinburgh, it has emerged.
Sue Bruce, who arrived in Aberdeen less than two years ago, has been shortlisted for the £160,000-a-year post.
Ms Bruce and the Aberdeen administration declined to comment.
City of Edinburgh Council also declined to comment but said it was launching an internal inquiry into how confidential information was made public.
Ms Bruce previously held the same post at East Dunbartonshire Council and replaced Douglas Paterson in Aberdeen in 2008 after he took early retirement.
