Head of BP's North Sea operations unveiled

Trevor Garlick will be based at BP's Dyce headquarters in Aberdeen

The new Aberdeen-based head of BP's operations in the North Sea has been named.

Trevor Garlick has become regional president and will be based at the energy giant's Dyce headquarters.

He said: "I am delighted to take on this position at a very challenging but exciting time for BP. The North Sea is a vitally important business."

Mr Garlick said BP planned a significant investment programme in the area over the long term.

He added he was looking forward to "enhancing safety performance and sustaining the competitiveness".

The 52-year-old former petroleum engineer has held a number of roles in BP North Sea and was the vice president and head of country for BP's business in Norway.

Mr Garlick replaces Bernard Looney in BP's top job in the North Sea.

Mr Looney left to take up a global role in the company.
