Appeal over abandoned pet lurcher in Aberdeen

Abandoning the pet lurcher was a crime, the Scottish SPCA said

A woman who abandoned a dog at an Aberdeen supermarket is being sought.

The one-year-old grey male lurcher was tied up outside the Bridge of Dee Asda store.

The woman was caught on CCTV cameras abandoning the dog at the front entrance, walking through the store and leaving through the back exit.

She was wearing dark trousers, a red top and a light-coloured hooded jacket with fur trim. The Scottish SPCA appealed for information.

Ch Insp John Carle, of the charity, said: "It is a few weeks since the dog was abandoned but we hope someone will be able to help us identify the woman responsible.

"We had hoped that the CCTV footage would give us the information we need but it hasn't.

"The dog was in good condition and has now been rehomed.

"But abandoning an animal is an offence and anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life."

The incident happened on Thursday 25 November, which was just after the first of the recent snow arrived.
