NHS Grampian smoking ban plan suffers setback

NHS Grampian's plan for a smoking ban on its premises has suffered a setback.

The board had hoped to implement a complete ban for staff and patients by the start of next year.

It admits it has found it difficult to keep many entrances smoke-free, and officials are now considering providing interim smoking shelters.

The Scotland Patients Association earlier said a ban move could bring health benefits, but unions said it was unfair and unworkable.
