Major George McCallum will appear in court over Kaylee McIntosh's death

A man is due to appear in court in connection with the death of a teenage army cadet from Aberdeenshire.

Kaylee McIntosh, 14, from Fyvie, drowned after becoming trapped under a boat during a training exercise in Loch Carnan in the Outer Hebrides in 2007.

A fatal accident inquiry found a catalogue of failures had contributed to her death.

Major George McCallum, 51, is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court next week.

Kaylee's parents welcomed the court move.

They said it was a "step closer to justice".
