A $100m (£63.2m) pipeline contract for BP's new £4.5bn oil project west of the Shetland Islands has been awarded to Subsea 7.

The Clair Ridge scheme is an extension of the existing Clair oil field.

Subsea 7 said fabrication would take place at its Wick facility, and would secure work for about 100 people.

Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore said: "This major contract underlines the confidence of the oil and gas sector."
