Plans for two new Aberdeen Airport hotels, providing more than 250 rooms between them, have been unveiled.

The Novotel and Ibis buildings would be at a business park called ABZ, external at Dyce.

Plans for the 140-bed Novotel and 112-bed Ibis - requiring investment of about £25m - are with Aberdeen City Council.

George Stevenson, director of ABZ Development Ltd, says: "Aberdeen has for many years suffered a serious shortfall in hotel rooms available."

Rita Stephen, development manager at the Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Future (Acsef) business development agency, said: "This latest investment in over 250 new hotel rooms is excellent news and will add significantly to the choice for both business and leisure visitors.

"It demonstrates the confidence developers have in the region and underlines the buoyancy of the commercial property market here, which is bucking the trend across the UK."

Aberdeen Airport this week rebranded itself as Aberdeen International.
