The remaining assets of Buckie Shipyard - which went into administration in August with the loss of 74 jobs - have been bought from the administrators.
Macduff Shipyards has taken on the main building, machinery, and launching ramp.
BBC Scotland understands a number of the workers who lost their jobs at Buckie have been taken on.
John Watt, managing director of Macduff Shipyards, said: "We continue to develop as a business."
Joint administrator Iain Fraser, Aberdeen-based partner with restructuring specialists FRP Advisory, said: "We are delighted Macduff Shipyards has acquired the main assets and is planning to recommence works on this historic site."
The shipyard dates back to 1903.
