Approval recommended for 3,000 new Aberdeen homes

A 3,000-home development for Aberdeen has been recommended for approval by city council planning officers.
The 528 acres (214ha) site is between Kingswells and Cults to the west of Hazlehead Park.
Planning officers have recommended that Countesswells Consortium's proposal should get planning permission, if certain conditions are met.
These include making 25% of the homes affordable housing and a contribution towards the cost of a travellers' site.
The consortium will also have to contribute towards the cost of building a school, a library and community facilities.
The development includes proposals for offices, a shop and a hotel.
A public consultation raised concerns including traffic congestion and loss of green belt land.
A report to be considered by councillors next week said the conditions proposed should mitigate the impact of the development.
