Aberdeen Maternity Hospital cleanliness 'has improved'

An initial inspection in March revealed failings

The standard of cleanliness at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital has greatly improved, according to inspectors.

The facility had previously been criticised for hygiene problems including equipment being contaminated with blood.

An initial inspection in March by inspectors from Healthcare Improvement Scotland revealed the failings.

NHS Grampian said it was pleased inspectors had found a marked difference in cleanliness.

It was announced in June that a new maternity unit and cancer centre are to be built at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
