A separate ARI report is due out next week

NHS Grampian will publish only the recommendations from a report into general surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after taking legal advice, BBC Scotland can reveal.

The review was carried out by the Royal College of Surgeons of England at the request of the health board.

An expert group spent two days within the general surgery department.

The board has decided to release just the recommendations, and confirm what the remit of the review was.

BBC Scotland understands interim chief executive Malcolm Wright briefed general surgeons and board members on Friday.

Local politicians had demanded the report be published in full.

Meanwhile the findings of a separate investigation by Healthcare Improvement Scotland into patient care at the hospital is due to be published next week.
