Council releases Marischal Square Q&A document

A document aimed at answering public questions about the controversial Marischal Square development has been released by Aberdeen City Council.

Developers Muse are behind the £107m hotel, office and retail project.

Opponents argue it would block the view of historic Marischal College and Provost Skene House.

The council said it was publishing links to the key documents and the minutes of meetings where important decisions were taken.

Planning permission for the project - on a city centre site created by the demolition of the former St Nicholas House council headquarters - was granted last year.

A special council meeting will be held on Thursday at 16:00 on the project.

It was called by SNP group leader Callum McCaig after a motion to get the project onto the full council agenda was ruled incompetent by the Lord Provost.

The council's deputy leader Marie Boulton, an independent, said the row was being used as a "political football" by the SNP.
