A joint committee set up to ensure the delivery of a £250m 'City Deal' for the north east of Scotland has met for the first time.

Representatives from both Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire councils attended, along with a private sector group led by businessman Sir Ian Wood.

Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing was appointed as chair.

The deal - formally signed at the end of last month - will see the UK and Scottish governments jointly invest.

It includes funding for an energy innovation centre.

An expansion of Aberdeen harbour is also planned to help the city compete for oil and gas industry decommissioning work.
