Up to 80 jobs at risk at Baxters soup firm in Fochabers

Up to 80 jobs are a risk at Moray soup and food firm Baxters, it has been announced.

The Fochabers-based business said it was beginning a two-year "manufacturing transformation programme".

Baxters said it was entering a period of consultation with workers at Fochabers, where it employs up to 700 people throughout the year.

Executive chairman Audrey Baxter said: "We need to improve the performance of our European business."

The family business is famed for its soups and preserves.

It has been built up from a cottage industry into an international food group.
