A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling four storeys from a window in Aberdeen.

The incident happened in Balnagask Circle in the Torry area at about 13:40 on Monday.

He was taken to Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital (RACH) for initial assessment but was later transferred to a hospital in Glasgow.

The boy was said to be in a "critical but stable" condition.

One neighbour told BBC Scotland how she saw a woman screaming and running out of the flats towards a grassy area.

It is believed that police are not treating the incident as a criminal act.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Inquiries are ongoing."

Aberdeen City Council, which owns the property, said it was working with police following the incident.

A spokesman said: "We are aware of an incident at one of our properties and are currently liaising closely with Police Scotland as they carry out their investigation.

"We are not in a position to comment further on this specific incident until that investigation has been concluded and the circumstances have been established."
