A stopover site for travelling people has been given the go-ahead by Aberdeenshire councillors.

There was opposition to the proposals for the development at Aikey Brae near Old Deer on the grounds it was not a suitable location.

However, councillors agreed to the application which will see a site created for 10 caravans. It is expected to cost £230,000 to redevelop.

The aim is to reduce unauthorised encampments.
