Aberdeen City Council accepts 150 applications to leave posts

Aberdeen City Council has accepted 150 employees for voluntary severance or early retirement.

All employees were invited to apply, but some were not accepted because of "operational requirements".

The move came as the local authority attempts to cut costs across the organisation.

Chief executive Angela Scott said a "leaner and more efficient council" was vital. Fresh applications will continue to be assessed.
