Ice cream firm Mackie's has become the first shop to open in Aberdeen's new Marischal Square development.

The Rothienorman-based company's venture at the £107m office, leisure and hotel development is also the firm's first ice cream parlour.

Mackie's managing director Mac Mackie said: "It's a huge investment for Aberdeen so we are delighted to be the first to open."

The Mackie's 19.2 name relates to the farm base being 19.2 miles away.

Marischal Square was originally due to open in the summer.

Mr Mackie added: "I think people will grow to love it. It's important businesses get behind it now."
