Dozens made redundant as Aberdeen hotel closes

Dozens of employees have been made redundant with the closure of an Aberdeen hotel.
The Doubletree Treetops Hotel, on Springfield Road, closed on Thursday.
Staff were told on Monday that the company that owns the hotel had ceased trading. On Wednesday guests were told there was no food or drinks available.
Between 75 and 80 employees are understood to have been made redundant. The attached gym and pool facilities have also closed.
A statement on behalf of the owners blamed "difficult trading conditions through the winter" and the "general state of the hotel and leisure market in Aberdeen".
The owners were said to be "reviewing their options", including the possibility of reopening the hotel under different management or operators.
It is also understood that organisers of events due to take place on Saturday have been advised by staff to seek alternative venues.
