Boy aged three airlifted to hospital after Aberdeenshire crash

A three-year-old boy was flown to hospital after a suffering what were described as life-threatening injuries in a serious crash in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called out after the accident involving a black Ford Fiesta happened on the A98 near New Pitsligo at about 12:45 on Sunday.

The boy was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Police said a six-year-old girl and a 27-year-old woman were also taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

The pair were treated for what were described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Sgt Lesley Morrison of Police Scotland said: "Inquiries into this incident remain ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash, or believes they saw the Ford Fiesta beforehand, to please come forward, external.

"We are also keen to hear from any motorists who were in the area and may have dashcam footage from the A98 around the time of the crash."

The road reopened at about 23:20.
