Calum Rae, 28, died after being struck by a car on Thursday

Police have named a man who died after being struck by a car in Aberdeenshire.

Calum Rae, 28, from the Inverurie area died at the scene after officers were called to Oldmeldrum Road, Newmachar, at 01:00 on Thursday.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further inquiries.

Police Scotland have renewed their appeal for witnesses, external as their inquiries into the crash continue.
