Allan pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh

A man has pleaded guilty to raping and choking a woman, endangering her life, during an attack in her own home.

Kyle Allan had been drinking heavily at a friend's barbecue before going into the woman's nearby home in the Cove area of Aberdeen.

He seized her by the neck and compressed her throat, causing her to lose consciousness.

The 31-year-old hit her on the head and body, removed her clothes and threw her to the ground before raping her.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard the attack had left the 35-year-old woman, who cannot be identified, psychologically traumatised.

Prosecutor Isabella Ennis KC told judge Lord Ericht that, after the attack, Allan threatened his victim and her family members.

She said: "He threatened her that if she called the police he would come back and kill them all."

'Substantial prison sentence'

The woman attempted to flee from her home but was held back by Allan before he eventually left the house with his shorts still at his knees.

He then escaped after hailing a taxi.

Ms Ennis said the victim, who did not know Allan, phoned a family member and a friend to tell them about the rape.

She urged them not to call the police as she feared Allan would return to attack them.

However, the court heard the friend dialled 999 and Allan was later traced.

Lord Ericht deferred sentence for the court to obtain background reports on Allan.

He told Allan, who appeared by via video link from prison: "A substantial prison sentence is likely in this case."

Allan will be sentenced at the High Court in Dundee on 24 November.
