Ryan Steehouder will be sentenced in January
An Aberdeen businessman has been convicted of raping a woman after claiming it was "role play".
The High Court in Edinburgh heard Ryan Steehouder preyed on his victim in the city between 2011 and 2015.
Jurors convicted the 33-year-old of threatening or abusive behaviour, assault to the danger of her life, rape and sexual assault.
Steehouder, who had denied the charges, was remanded in custody and will be sentenced early next year.
The woman had told the court how he subjected her to physical assaults which saw him seize and lift her by the body and throw her, causing her to strike her head and body against walls and doors.
The court also heard how he would lie on top of her, kick her, restrain her, choke and her and cause her to lose consciousness.
Lord Doherty told Steehouder said: "This is a case where there will obviously be a custodial sentence."
Steehouder was also placed on the sex offenders register, and was told he will learn the period he will be subject to the requirements of it when he is sentenced.
Defence advocate Lynsey Morgan told Lord Doherty she would reserve her mitigation for the sentencing hearing.
The case will next call at the High Court in Edinburgh on 9 January.
