Temporary power firm Aggreko has signed contracts worth about £19m for the 2010 Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

The Glasgow-based company will provide generators and a distribution network for the events in Guangzhou, China, in November and December.

Aggreko's involvement will cover the games' 16 stadia and a broadcast centre for international media.

The firm has already reported pre-tax profits of £125.7m for the first six months of 2010, up 19% on last year.

Aggreko chief executive, Rupert Soames, said: "The Asian Games, along with the Olympic Games and Football World Cup, are the world's largest sporting events.

"I am delighted to say that Aggreko has scored a hat-trick by being selected to supply power to all of them.

"This success is the result of the talented team of events professionals we have brought together in Aggreko and the tens of millions of pounds we have invested to serve these large events."
