BP announces two North Sea field sales to Mitsui and Co

Oil giant BP has announced the sale of its stakes in two North Sea fields for $280m (£179m).

BP has agreed to sell its minority interests in the Alba and Britannia fields to Japanese trading company Mitsui and Co.

Trevor Garlick, regional president for BP North Sea, said the move was "part of our strategy to develop a more focused business in the UK and Norway".

The deal is due to be completed by September.
