Some crew taken off Dana boat Triton after 'smoke and sparks'

Some workers have been taken off a North Sea vessel after "smoke and sparks" were extinguished.

The "minor incident" happened on Dana Petroleum's Triton floating, production, storage and offloading vessel on Monday.

Dana said the smoke and sparks were seen coming from the coupling on an emergency generator.

It was extinguished, and no-one was injured.

Dana said about 20 crew have since been flown off because of a loss of some services, and not because of any safety concerns.

A spokesperson said: "The relevant authorities have been informed in line with normal procedure.

"Dana Petroleum takes the safety and welfare of its employees and contractors very seriously and will conduct a full investigation into the incident."
