Trapped Hawick bus driver rescued from floods

Firefighters have been called out to rescue a driver from a bus which became trapped in flood water near Hawick.

The vehicle got stuck in waters at Hassendean station on the B6405 after more heavy overnight rain in the Scottish Borders.

Numerous routes across the south of Scotland have been badly affected by flooding.

Motorists in Hawick and Jedburgh and surrounding areas have been advised by police not to drive at all.

In Dumfries and Galloway, a woman was rescued from her car after it became stuck in flood water at Deanston Farm, Lochfoot.

Firefighters from Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright were called to the incident at 08:25.

The water was waist-height. Crews rescued the woman from the vehicle then removed the car from the water.
