Dumfries Theatre Royal future examined

A report is expected to be released later this week to determine the future of Scotland's oldest working theatre.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is due to publish its recommendations on how to use funds earmarked to support performing arts in the region.

The owners of the historic Theatre Royal in Dumfries hope it will be used to carry out vital repairs at the site.

An earlier project to replace the property collapsed when the council withdrew its financial support.
