Scottish Borders cuts meetings get back on track

The council said it wanted the public to be "actively involved" in deciding how services were delivered

A series of meetings to discuss public spending cuts in the Scottish Borders is to resume after being postponed due to bad weather.

The council called off the events in December when heavy snowfalls affected the region.

They will now take place across the area later this month and in early February.

Scottish Borders Council is due to meet on 10 February to confirm its council tax levels which are due to be frozen.

The first rescheduled meeting takes place in Hawick Town Hall on Tuesday evening.

It will be followed by events in Galashiels, Eyemouth, Selkirk and Kelso at the beginning of February.

Council leader David Parker said he wanted residents to be "aware of the pressures" facing the authority and be "actively involved" in how services were delivered.
